Frequently Asked Questions
Do i need a doctors referral for Physiotherapy?
You do not require a doctor's referral for physiotherapy. Physiotherapists are able to assess and diagnose orthopaedic conditions without the direction of a medical doctor. Some extended health benefits may require you to have a doctor's referral in order for you to be reimbursed, however this is becoming much more rare. If you want to be sure you will be covered by your extended health benefits we recommend calling them to confirm before your initial assessment.
Is there government funding for Physiotherapy?
If you are under the age of 18 or over the age of 65 government funding is available for physiotherapy. To access this funding you must visit an OHIP approved clinic. We are not an OHIP approved clinic and have no access to this funding.
How long are initial assessments and subsequent treatments?
Initial assessments are 1 hour long where we take a thorough medical history and assess your current condition. For follow-up treatments we spend between 30 and 40 minutes of one-on-one time with you to reassess your condition and progress your treatment. Your booking is time based and we have no limitation on the number of issues that can be discussed in one session.
What should I wear for the assessment?
For any lower back or lower extremity issues we recommend that you bring a pair of shorts with you to wear for the assessment. For neck or shoulder issues a tank top is recommended. For scoliosis assessments a bikini top or sports bra is preferable so the entire spine may be viewed from the back.
How much do treatments cost?
Initial Assessment - $135
Follow-up appointments - $110
Vestibular Assessment (75 minutes) - $165

What should I expect on my first visit?
For all assessments you will be asked to fill out a short one page intake questionnaire about your medical condition. Once that is done your physiotherapist will take you to a private treatment room where they will do a thorough health history before beginning a physical assessment. Often your symptoms will indicate that a postural and movement assessment is also required. After assessing you we will communicate our assessment findings and propose a treatment plan. Assessments are 1 hour long and there is usually enough time for treatment as well, however for more complex cases this may not always be the case.
